Can Separation Between My Roof Sections Result in Water Leaks?
August 14, 2026
When two roof units meet, the transition between them needs to be properly sealed. In this project, multiple openings were found at the transition, creating potential entry points for water intrusion. And we all know water only needs a tiny invitation to become a very expensive houseguest.
To address the issue, a new heat-welded modified bitumen strip will be installed along the entire transition to properly seal the area and create a watertight condition. Open seams and cracks in the area will also be heat-welded as needed to strengthen the existing membrane.
Roof TriviaDid you know? Modified bitumen roofing is designed with layers that help provide protection against water and weather. Heat welding helps bond the membrane together, creating a strong seal at vulnerable seams and transitions.
At Anchor Point Roofing, your go-to roofing company and top-rated roofing company, we fix the cause of the issue—not just the symptoms. Because when it comes to roof leaks, a little gap today can become a big problem tomorrow.
